Immerse yourself in reading al-Shāfiʿī, for I have never seen anyone like him in increasing one’s intellect!
Immerse yourself in the study of literature (adab),
and you will see how it enhances your understanding of al-Shāfiʿī!
Engage deeply in appreciating literature and in lengthy contemplation of it, in a manner that goes beyond a surface-level understanding to feeling the emotions that crafted it, for I have not seen anything like this in aiding you to gain the benefits of literary study!
Forego memorization, and focus on contemplation, continuously engaging in this with full devotion for years on end, then afterwards do not ever give up the practice altogether for the years that remain to you.
